Ilion - Donald B. Crim, Jr., 58, of Ilion, passed away on September 4, 2024 at the Wynn Hospital in Utica with his loving family by his side.
He was born on March 9, 1966 in Ilion, a beloved son of Donna Laymon Crim and the late Donald B. Crim, Sr. He grew up in Ilion and attended Ilion schools, graduating with the Class of 1985.
Don worked for many years as a plow driver with the New York State Thruway in Herkimer and previously at Remington Arms Co. in Ilion. He was an active member of the community, belonging to the Ilion Elks Lodge, where he was honored as Elk of the Year. He was also a proud member of the Ilion Marine Corps League and the Ilion American Legion.
In his younger years, Don was an excellent athlete, and he remained an avid Pittsburgh Steelers fan throughout his life. He enjoyed spending time with friends at Pellettieri Joe’s on Tuesdays, savoring his favorite drinks—Miller Lite and Ginger Brandy—and attending "Sunday School" with his close friends. Don was known for his big heart, quick smile, and the loyal friendships he formed with everyone who knew him.
Don is survived by his loving mother, Donna; one son, Daniel Crim and his wife, Lauren, of Ft. Drum; a daughter, Emily and her husband Matt Stickles of West Winfield; two brothers, Matthew Crim and his wife, Courtney of Ilion and Jeff Crim and his wife, Mandy, of Little Falls; three sisters, Nancy and Brian Deihl of Little Falls, Jennifer and her husband, Robert Doxtater of Cayuga, NY and Jackie and Thomas Gannon of Rome; 5 grandchildren, Kinleigh, Abel, Axel, and Kendall Crim and Beau Stickles, grandchildren who he loved dearly; Janet Crim, the mother of his children whom he loved dearly, and several special aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by his father, Don, Sr. and a brother, David. He will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
A celebration of Don’s life will be held on Saturday, October 12, 2024 at 1:00 pm at the Ilion Elks Lodge, 8 West St. Ilion, NY 13357. In keeping with Don's wishes, there will be no public calling hours. Arrangements are under the direction of the Whiter-Hendrix Funeral Home, 100 Otsego St. in Ilion.
