Ilion - Mr. Jon Edward Trosset, 81, passed away on Wednesday, June 4th, 2025, in the peace and comfort of his home with his family by his side.
Jon was born on April 23, 1944, in Utica, NY, a son of the late George and Edna Young Trosset. He lived a life marked by dedication, love, and service. Jon was the cherished husband of Gail Mackin, with whom he shared many wonderful years. The two were married on May 18, 1991 in Ilion. His love and commitment to Gail were the cornerstones of his life, and their bond served as an inspiration to those who knew them.
A proud veteran, Jon served his country honorably in the United States Army. Following his military service, he channeled his skills and discipline into a fulfilling career as a Machine Specialist at Remington Arms Co. in Ilion.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Gail Trosset of Ilion; his step-children, Christopher (Rose) Bubb of Herkimer, NY Timothy (Sharon) Bubb of Blossvale, NY, Terrence (Patrick Kane) Bubb of Sun City, FL and Kevin Bubb of Palm Beach, FL; his beloved grandchildren, Ciara Bubb, Lauren Lundquist, Dylan Bubb, Ashley Bubb, Amy Bubb and Trevor Bubb. He was predeceased by his grandson, Joshua Bubb.
Arrangements are entrusted to Whiter-Hendrix Funeral Home, 100 Otsego St. in Ilion. In keeping with Jon's wishes, there will be no public services. Interment will take place in North Columbia Cemetery at the convenience of his family.
