Arthur G 'Mike' Wood

Arthur "Mike" Wood, 79 of 100 W. Main St. in Ilion, passed away on Friday December 30, 2011 at Faxton-St. Luke;s Health Care in New Hartford with his family by his side.
Mike was born on January 11, 1932 in the Town of Litchfield, the son of the late Walter and Marion (Clancy) Wood; he was educated in W. Winfield and Mohawk and was employed with Enjem's Flooring until his retirement in 1994. On February 6, 1993 he was united in marriage with Shelva Cheney at the Ilion Marine Corps League.
Mike was an associate Life Member of the Marine Corps League.
Mike is survived by his wife Shelva; a son Kenneth and his companion Jeanne Zabele of Jacksonville, FL; a daughter Pamela George of Bryceville, Fl., a step daughter Shelva Stone of Ilion; his brothers Jess and his wife Vera of Dolgeville, Harley and his companion Marsha of Frankfort; a sister and brother in law Margaret and Joseph Schafer of Seminole, FL. and a brother in law Bruce Mundorff of Mohawk.
Mike also leaves seven grand and eight great grandchildren.
He was pre deceased by a son Rodney; a brother Willard and his sister Edna Mundorff.
Funeral services for Mike will be held on Tuesday January 3, 2012 at 5pm at the Whiter-Hendrix Funeral Home Inc. 100 Otsego St. in Ilion.
Rev. Robert Wollaber will officiate; interment will be in the Cedarville Cemetery in the spring.
Friends may call on Tuesday January 3, from 3pm until the time of the funeral.
Mike's family would like to thank the nurses and staff at St. Luke's for all their kindness and compassion.
Friends are asked to consider memorial donations to the Ilion Ambulance Fund, envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
