Bernard J. Riley, 84, passed away Tuesday, December 20, 2016. He was born in Utica on June 19, 1932 and was a graduate of Procter High School. Bernie was married to the former Jeanette Germain, she passed away in 2006. He was a NAVY Chief Petty Officer during the Korean War. He was employed as an Electronics Technician with G.E. retiring as a Quality Assurance Rep Weapons and logistic U.S. Government.
Bernie was a member of the Church of The Annunciation, the St. Frances Club, the 40&8, American Legion Post 920, Ilion Knights of Columbus and the Herkimer V.F.W. He enjoyed his camp on Canadarago Lake with his family.
Bernard is survived by four sons and three daughters in law, Mark of Ilion, Kevin and Paula of E. Herkimer, Timothy and Char of Nevada and John and Kathy of Tampa, Fl., Nine grandchildren Sean, Justin, Kyle, Curtis, Jessica, Chad, Cory, Craig and Ryan. Bernie is also survived by his sister Jane, he was predeceased by four brothers Fr. James, Fr. Jerome, Bill and John.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by Fr. Paul Catena at the Church of The Annunciation, Ilion on Thursday, December 29, 2016 at 10:30 AM. Following the Mass there will be a celebration of life at St Francis society in Frankfort all are welcome. Interment will be in the Mt. Oliviet Cemetery, Whitesboro. In keeping with Bernie's wishes there will be no calling hours. Arrangements are with the Whiter-Hendrix Funeral Home, Inc., 100 Otsego St., Ilion.
