Ilion - Bernard Harris Rood, Jr., 78, passed away on June 30, 2024 at Norwich Rehabilitation & Nursing Home in Norwich, NY.
Bernard was born on February 2, 1946 in Herkimer, a son of the late Bernard Harris Sr. and Mary Waltz Rood. He was married to Elizabeth "Liz" Ward on November 8, 1975. Liz passed away on May 6, 2018.
Bernard was employed as a laborer with Weston Foods in Frankfort for many years.
Bernie is survived by his beloved children, Sally Pierce and her husband, William of Ilion and Mindy Failing and her husband, Jason of Herkimer and Cynthia Rood of Florida; his beloved grandchildren, Dylan Pierce, Brandon Pierce, Sahlenna Failing, Sahvanna Mayr and her husband Nicholas, Jason Failing, Jr. and Kyra Santana, Amanda Rood, Christopher Rood, Ashley Rood; his great-grandchildren Chloe Naugle, Sophia Naugle, Beverly Mayr, Freya Mayr, Hasiley Reed, Jamie Pierce, Lauren, Aiden; his sisters, Catherine (Kitty) Desgrosielliers and Lorie Rood; one brother, Thomas Rood and his nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews and friends.
A graveside service will take place on Monday, July 8, 2024 at 1 pm in Cedarville Cemetery. In keeping with Bernie's wishes, there will be no public calling hours. Arrangements have been entrusted to the Whiter-Hendrix Funeral Home, 100 Otsego St. Ilion, NY 13357.
