Betty Pozniak, 93, passed away Sunday, January 17, 2016 at the Iroquois Nursing Home, Jamesville, N.Y.
Betty was born in Detroit, Mich. on March 24, 1922 the daughter of the late Eliot and Frances VanDelinder Lester.
Mrs. Pozniak was a 1941 graduate of Ilion High School, at one time she was married to Gordon Waffle then in 1969 she marries Charles Pozniak, he passed away in 2002, she was employed as an account clerk with UNIVAC retiring from the Utica site. Betty was a fifty plus year member of the Ilion First Baptist Church, a past member of OES Chapter 82. She enjoyed many years camping and fishing on the St. Lawrence, also reading and cooking.
Betty is survived by Leola and George Streeter, Donna Miller and companion David Clayton,grandchildren
Aaron and Stephanie Miller,Keene Valley N.Y, Thomas Sreeter and companion Tanya Belorit, Jason and fiance Debbie Courtney all of Ilion, and Marc
and Pamela of Richmomd Va. Great grandchilden EmmaLeigh,Madison of Katy Tx, Tristen, San Diedo Ca.,Gabrielle Streeter and Olivia Miller. Stepchildren Carol Jones,Estero Fla,and Robert Pozniak, Clifton Park also several nieces and nephews. She was pre deceased by a sister and brother in law Leola and Robert Reynolds and a brother and sister in law Thomas and Carolyn Lester.
Funeral services for Betty will be Thursday, January 21, 2016, from the Whiter-Hendrix Funeral Home, Inc., 100 Otsego St., Ilion at 1:00 PM with Pastor Mitchell Lindquist of the Ilion First Baptist Church officiating, interment will follow in the Armory Hill Cemetery, Ilion. Friends may call Thursday from 11:00AM until the time of the service.
Betty's family would like to thank the staff at the Iroquois Nursing Home for all their kindness, compassion and care during her stay.
