Mohawk - Mrs. Beverly Garlock, 96, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, November 13, 2024 in Valley Health Services in Herkimer.
She was born on October 2, 1928, a daughter of the late Roy and Flora Bard Shepard. She was a graduate of Stratford Schools and was later employed as a Clerk with several local businesses including her most recent position at Fay's in Ilion, Christiano's, also in Ilion and Grants in Herkimer. She was married to Arlington Cole in 1954, a devoted union of 19 years, until Arlington's passing in 1973. She was later married to Raymond Garlock in 1975. The two shared 40 years together, until Raymond's passing in 2015.
Beverly was a woman of varied interests, renowned for her insatiable curiosity and love of learning. An avid reader and talented pianist, she also had a fondness for card games and traveling, eagerly absorbing the world around her. Even in her later years, she remained astutely aware of current events until her very last day, her mind as sharp as her passion for conquering crossword puzzles. She was also a proud member of the Mohawk Reformed Church.
She is survived by a devoted extended family, including her step-children, step-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and cousins who will dearly miss her presence and cherish her memory.
She is predeceased by her daughter and pride of her life, Arlene Cole of West Winfield.
A celebration of Beverly's life will be held on Friday, November 22, 2024 at 1:00 pm in the Whiter-Hendrix Funeral Home, 100 Otsego St. in Ilion. Interment will follow in St. Johnsville Cemetery.
