Beverly W. Herlehy, 89, of 80 E. North St.in Ilion passed away on Monday January 14, 2013 at Faxton-St. Luke's Health Care in New Hartford.
Bev was born on September 12, 1923 in Ilion the daughter of the late Leslie and Essie (Helmer) Wood, she was a graduate of Ilion Schools and St. Luke's School of Nursing as well as a 1979 graduate of Utica College.
Bev worked as an RN at Little Falls Hospital for 27 years before retiring to Old Forge, after 20 years she returned to Ilion.
On November 23, 1946 she married David K. Herlehy in the First Presbyterian Church in Ilion, David passed away in September of 2011.
Bev was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Ilion and was a former Elder of the Church, she was Past Regent for the Asten-Rogan Chapter of DAR a former member of the American Organ Guild.
Bev enjoyed gardening, reading and music, especially organ and piano.
Bev is survived by her daughter Gail of Utica; a sister Virginia Reynolds of Ilion and her nieces and nephews Sharon and Tom Vorce, Linda and Jim Marco, Phylis and Bill Layman, Don and Terry Reynolds and Tim Herlehy.
In keeping with Beverly's wishes there are no calling hours and funeral services will be held at the convenience of the family, interment will be in Oak Hill Cemetery in Herkimer.
Friends and family are asked to consider memorial donations to the Utica Rescue Mission or the Ilion Ambulance Fund, in Bev's memory.
