Bruce Stanley Sr., 73 of Rockwell Dr., passed away on Sunday November 17, 2013 at Faxton-St. Luke's Healthcare in New Hartford.
Bruce was born on July 17, 1940 in the Town of Norway.
He was the son of Galen Briggs and Gertrude (Weakley) Stanley.
He was educated in Ilion Schools and worked as a purchaser for Remington Arms Co. until his retirement.
Bruce was married to the former Frieda Thrasher.
He was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening and cooking.
He also was a member of the Remington Skeet Team.
Bruce is survived by his wife Frieda; two sons Bruce Jr. and his wife Marilla and David and his wife Bobbie Jo all of Ilion; a step daughter Cindy and her husband Jim Maloy of PA; two brothers John and his wife Jeanette of Ilion and Bernard and his wife Joan of Oneonta; seven grandchildren and four great grandchildren.
A memorial service for Bruce will be held on Friday November 22, 2013 at 7pm at the Whiter-Hendrix Funeral Home Inc. 100 Otsego St. in Ilion; Fr. John Bassett will officiate.
Friends may call on Friday from 5-7pm at the funeral home.
