Our beloved Carolyn Remis, entered into the Lord's kingdom on October 5, 2016 with her loving family
by her side, after fighting a courageous battle with cancer.
She was born April 17, 1942 in Ilion the daughter of the late Lawrence and Clara Moore King.
Educated in the Ilion School system graduating in 1959, on November 25,1961 she was united in
marriage with James Remis, sharing 53 years prior to his passing.
Carolyn's devotion to her family and friends was her greatest works, through the years she was employed
with Chicago Pneumatic and Herkimer County Cheese; where she developed some of her most cherished
friendships. Working with children at Head Start and Herkimer Elementary were some of her most
rewarding memories. She was a lifelong member of The Church of The Annunciation, Ilion and the
Knights of Columbus Auxiliary. Charitable giving and finding quiet ways to help others was her way to
share Faith, Hope, and Love.
Carolyn is survived by two sons and a daughter in law, Todd and Kathryn of Ilion and Shawn Remis of
Jackson Hole, WY. A daughter and son in law Deborah and Richard Schoff of llion, her sisters Barbara
Kieft and Diane Fikes of Ilion, three grandchildren Elizabeth Remis, Jacob and Claire Schoff all of Ilion;
and many nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held Monday, October 10, 2016 from 4:00-7:00 at the Whiter-Hendrix Funeral Home,
Inc., 100 Otsego St., Ilion. A mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, October
11, at the Church of The Annunciation. With interment to follow in the Armory Hill Cemetery.
The family extends joyous gratitude to all who helped with Carolyn's care; most especially Kriss and
Michele at Bassett. Friends are asked to consider memorials to Carolyn's favorite charity Operation
Smile, P.O. Box 5017, Hagerstown, MD 21741. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
