Carrol J. Dutcher, 83, of Mohawk passed away on Tuesday January 21, 2014 at Mohawk Valley Health Care in Ilion.
Carrol was born on September 12, 1930 in Mohawk; he was the son of the late Linos and Grace (Williamson) Dutcher.
He was a graduate of Mohawk schools and was employed as a heavy equipment operator for the NYS Thruway Authority for 37 years.
Carrol was a Navy veteran serving as a sonar technician during the Korean Conflict.
In August of 1953 he married the former Virginia "Ginger" Francisco, who passed away in December of 2012.
Carrol was a member of and held several offices in the Mohawk American Legion Post #25; he was also a member of the Legion Drill Team.
He was also a member of the Herkimer Elks Lodge and served on the Town of German Flatts Fire Commission for many years.
Carrol is survived by a son Andrew and his wife Annemarie of Mohawk; two daughters:
Barbara Dutcher Wright of Cazenovia and Laurie and her husband Robert Kowalick of Rochester Hills, Michigan; and
three grandchildren:
Alyse and Alek Kowalick and Frank Roe; a brother Frederick Dutcher of New York Mills, and two sisters;
Catherine Wells of Herkimer and Eleanor Pederson of Ilion.
In keeping with Carrol's wishes there are no calling hours and funeral services will be private.
Friends and family are asked to consider memorial donations to MOVAC Ambulance Corp, State Rt. 5s Mohawk, NY 13407. Envelopes are available at the funeral home.
