Ilion - Mrs. Charlene Kaye Goodman, 54, of Ilion, passed away peacefully on Monday, September 23, 2024, surrounded by her loving family, following a valiant battle with cancer.
She was born on July 3, 1970, in Glendale, California, Charlene was the beloved daughter of Marlene Kaye Weaver Goodman and the late William Goodman. A proud graduate of Royal High School, class of 1988, Charlene moved on to build a successful career in the accounts receivable department with Casa Imports in Utica, where she worked for many years and made countless friendships along the way. Her dedication to her work was matched only by the dedication she had for her loved ones.
Charlene was fortunate to have found the love of her life, Carreen (Carrie) Elizabeth Burling, with whom she shared an unbreakable bond. Their relationship was a beautiful example of love, strength, and commitment. The two were united in marriage on August 14, 2021. Charlene’s family was her heart and soul. Her strength, humor, and kindness left a lasting impression on everyone she encountered, and her memory will live on in the hearts of those who loved her most.
She is survived by her beloved wife, Carreen (Carrie) Burling; her sons, whom she loved more than anything in this world, Bradley and Hunter Melson; her mother, Marlene Goodman; her loving canine companion, Dawson and cats, Boz and Binx and many dear friends and family members who will forever cherish her memory. She was predeceased by her father, William Goodman.
Char's Celebration of life will be held on Friday, September 27, 2024 from 2-6 pm at the Ilion Elk's Lodge, 8 West St. Ilion, NY 13357 with a service of remembrance conducted by her fellow Elk's at 4 pm.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly asks that donations be made in Charlene’s memory to the Jan Burling Community Fund, c/o Ilion Elk's Lodge #1444, 8 West St. Ilion, NY 13357 or to the Herkimer County Humane Society, 514 St. Rt. 5S, Mohawk, NY 13407.
