Charles Brian Dibble 67, of 3 North Washington Street, Mohawk passed away on Monday June 2, 2014 at St Elizabeth Medical Center, Utica.
Charles was born June 5, 1946 in Newport News, VA the son of the late Charles Berton and Nella Mae Joslyn Dibble, and was a 1965 graduate of Mohawk High School.
In 1966 Charles was a graduate of Miss Farmer's School of Cooking in Boston, MA.
After graduation Charles was drafted into the US Army during the Vietnam Era and was stationed in Fort Gordon, Georgia.
After his discharge from the Army he worked at several area restaurants and in 1972 he started a 30 year career at the Masonic Home in Utica where he held several positions in the food production department.
During this time he taught several food service courses at Sullivan County and Mohawk Valley Community Colleges while completing his own associate's
degree in Food Service Management at SUNY Morrisville. He then continued to complete all necessary requirements to obtain his certification as a Certified Executive Chef.
Charles enjoyed doing one of his favorite hobbies
Ice Sculptures for restaurants and special events thru out the central New York area.
From 2003 to 2012 he enjoyed working at Panera Bread in New Hartford where he met many wonderful co-workers and customers.
On May 31, 1980 Charles was united in marriage to the former Janet Heinrich in Utica, NY.
Charles was a Boy Scout Leader of Troop 26 in Mohawk for 5 years, taking his troop to Camp Russell many summers and the Boy Scout Jamboree in Virginia in 2001 and 2005 as well as the Winfield Masonic Lodge # 0581.
Charles was a member of Grace Church in Mohawk having served on the Vestry for many years, and also a member of the National and Local Erie Canal H.O.G. Chapter.
He is survived by his wife Janet his children Kristin Diane Dibble and Sean Michael Dibble all of Mohawk. A sister in law and her husband Christine and Douglas Benson of Whitesboro, and their children John, James, Joshua and Kathryn. He also leaves his best buddy Nick.
Friends are invited to attend calling hours for Charles to be held on Thursday June 5, 2014 from 4:00 to 7:00 PM at the Whiter-Hendrix Funeral Home Inc. 100 Otsego Street, Ilion.
The funeral service will be held on Friday June 6, 2014 at 11:00 AM from the Grace Episcopal Church, Main Street, Mohawk, NY with Fr. William Wheeler and Fr. Robert Witt officiating.
Interment with Military Honors will follow in the Mohawk Cemetery.
The family would like to thank Dr. Oleg Dulkin and the staff at St. Elizabeth Medical Center and MOVAC Ambulance for all their care and compassion shown to them.
The family has requested to please omit flowers and memorial donations may be made to the MOVAC Ambulance Corp. Route 5S, Mohawk, New York 13407.
Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
