Daniel J. 'Dan' Goldberg

Daniel J. Goldberg, 58, passed away May 21, 2015 at Faxton-St. Luke's Health Care, New Hartford. Dan was born in Staten Island, December 20, 1956, the son of Joseph and the late Gertrude Pottash Goldberg, he attended schools there and was a graduate of Herkimer County Community College. On May 30, 2010 he was united in marriage with Roberta Everson in Herkimer.
Dan was employed for thirty years with Verizon as a Special Assistant, retiring in 2013. Dan enjoyed camping, NASCAR, he was an avid Yankees and Giants fan and was active in his church, The world Christian Center, Mohawk, but most of all he was an amazing Husband, Dad and Grandfather, his life revolved around his grandchildren, the center of his world.
Dan is survived by his wife Roberta, his father and stepmother Joseph and Linda Goldberg of Staten Island, his daughters Rebecca Austin and her companion Susan of Herkimer, Mary LaCelle, of Ilion, Sarah and Sunny Torres of Ilion, Jean Austin and her fianc Steve Renodin of Herkimer, his son John Austin Jr. of Herkimer, his God-daughter Allison Baum of Herkimer. He is also survived by his brothers and sister Arthur and Marion Goldberg, Brian and Maria Goldberg and Chris and Ben Schea all of Staten Island, his half-sisters Linda Kehoe and Joleen Kehoe, both of Staten Island, his aunt Toby Silverstein of Staten Island his in laws Dawn and George Moshier of Mohawk, Tina Mroz and George Eldred of Mohawk, Shirley Thomes of Mohawk, George and Lori Everson of Newport and Nancy Storms and Steve Waters of Ilion, and his canine companions Nikita and Chester.
Funeral services for Dan will be Thursday May 28, 2015 at 11:00 AM from the Whiter-Hendrix Funeral Home, Inc., 100 Otsego St., Ilion, with Pastor Eugene Kipper officiating. Interment will follow in Armory Hill Cemetery, Ilion. Friends may call Wednesday, May 27, 2015 from 4:00-7:00 PM at the Whiter-Hendrix Funeral Home.
