Dennis La Fontaine, 63, of Ilion and Caroga Lake passed away Wednesday February 24, 2016 at Bassett Hospital, Cooperstown.
Dennis was born on November 12, 1952 in Champlain, NY the son of the late Russell and Leona Dupee, was educated at St Mary's Academy in Champlain, NY, and was a graduate of SUNY Plattsburg.
On June 17, 1978 Dennis was united in marriage to Patricia Smith on Long Island.
Dennis was employed as a Vocational Rehab Councilor and Job Developer with the HARC in Herkimer until his retirement in 2012. He was a member of Emmanuel Episcopal Church in Little Falls, NY, a former member of the Herkimer K of C, a member of Herkimer Rotary Club and had served as Chairman of the local Red Cross
Dennis is survived by his wife Pat, his daughter and son in law Melanie and Aaron Sandquist, and his grandson Luke.
Dennis's greatest joy was sharing his stories with others in conversation and song.
Friends are invited to attend calling hours for Dennis to be held on Friday March 11, 2016 from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at the Whiter-Hendrix Funeral Home Inc. 100 Otsego Street, Ilion.
Dennis's funeral service will be held on Saturday March 12, 2016 at 10:00 AM in the Emmanuel Episcopal Church Little Falls with Rev. Dr. Steven Scarcia officiating.
Friends are asked to consider memorial donations in Dennis's memory to the HARC Activities Program c/o HARC 350 S. Washington Street, Herkimer NY 13350.
