Donald Davis, 88 of 31 North Third Ave, Ilion passed away Wednesday July 27, 2016 at Folt's Home in Herkimer.
Don was born on May 28, 1928 in Ilion the son of the late Charles A. and Delida C. Crouse Davis and received his education in the Ilion School System, while in high school Don played football under Coach Ken Patrick and later played with the Frankfort Semi Pro Team.
In 1948 Don served his country in the US Air Force from 1948 to 1952 serving in Korea and Japan
Don was Honorably Discharged as a Staff Sergeant. Upon his discharge Don was employed with Remington Arms in Ilion, and later employed at the Herkimer County Home in Herkimer until his retirement.
Don was a loving father, husband and friend.
Don is survived by his devoted wife of 62 years, Fay and two sons, Brett and Shawn, he also leaves seven grandchildren and one great grandchild.
Don was predeceased by a daughter, Lendel in 2008.
Don was also predeceased by his 6 brothers, Voris, George, Charles, Robert, Carl and Thomas Davis and a sister Vivian Davis.
In keeping with Don's wishes there are no public calling hours, graveside services will be Friday, August 29, 2016, with family friend Ken Palmer officiating.
Arrangements are with Whiter-Hendrix Funeral Home Inc. 100 Otsego Street, Ilion.
