Dorcas J. Conkling

Dorcas J. Conkling, 92 of Ilion passed away on Wednesday April 13, 2016 at St. Elizabeth's Medical Center in Utica with her family by her side.
Dorcas was born on February 9, 1924 in St. Johnsville, NY.
She was the daughter of the late Chris and Marjorie (Cross) Satterlee.
She was a graduate of Ilion Schools and Utica School of Commerce.
On October 12, 1946 Dorcas married Alvin B. Conkling in St. Johnsville, he passed away November 6, 2000.
Dorcas worked as a librarian's aid in Ilion Schools and was a member of the Order of The Eastern Star, Valley Chapter #82. She was also an avid New York Yankees and Syracuse University sports fan.
Dorcas is survived by two daughters; Deborah and her husband Vincent Bonomo of Clinton and Cynthia Conkling of Ilion.
Three grandchildren; Nick, Sara and Andrea and her boyfriend, Justin.
She is predeceased by a sister and brother in law Helen and Richard Leek.
Funeral services for Dorcas will be held on Monday April 18, 2016 at 11am the Whiter-Hendrix Funeral Home Inc. 100 Otsego St. in Ilion, Rev. Robert Wollaber will officiate.
Interment will be in the Armory Hill Cemetery in Ilion.
Friends may call on Monday from 10 to 11 am at the funeral home and are asked to please consider memorial donations to either Ilion Ambulance Fund or Morningstar Methodist Church, envelopes are available at the funeral home.
Dorcas's family wish to thank Tammy Loiacono for the care she gave Dorcas and Howard from Meals on Wheels for brightening her days. They would also like to thank the Presbyterian Home staff and St. Elizabeth's nurses for the excellent care and compassion given to Dorcas.
