Ilion - Doris M. (Todd) Tayler, 92, of Ilion, passed away, Tuesday, January 16, 2024, at the Wynn Hospital in Utica, New York.
Doris was born in Herkimer, NY, on August 26, 1931, the daughter of the late Leon and Frieda Todd. She married Bernie Tayler on May 14, 1954 in Mount Rose, PA.
Doris worked for General Electric in Utica, NY as a switchboard operator and later the payroll department, retiring from there in the early 1990's.
Doris was a loving and caring woman. She was a great conversationalist and was loved by many. Her family was her greatest source of pride and joy. Doris and her husband owned race horses at Vernon Downs and in Ohio for many years and loved traveling and gambling. She was also an avid golfer.
Doris is survived by two daughters, Robin Tayler and Tammy Devins and her husband, Donald; two sons, Alan Tayler, Scott Tayler and his wife, Marlene; close family friend and adopted daughter, Denise McVay; sister, Sandra Lavery; her grandchildren, Samantha Brewer and her husband, Drew, Keith Tayler and his wife, Jennifer, Kyle Tayler, Donald Devins and his wife, Kelly, Sarah Devins, Adrienne Barker and her husband, Steven, Anthony Sansone and Marcella Tayler; her great-grandchildren, Dylan and Ethan Brewer, Destiny, Autumn, Xander and Riley Tayler, Isabelle Gray, Stella Barker and Dominick Allen. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
She was pre-deceased by her husband, Bernie Tayler; son, Wayne Tayler; daughter-in-law, Susan Tayler; sister and brother-in-law, Dorothy and Robert Adams; brother and sister-in-law, Leon and June Todd and sister, Bettie Jean Todd.
Calling hours will be on Monday, January 22, 2024 from 4:00 to 6:00 PM at the Whiter-Hendrix Funeral Home, 100 Otsego Street, Ilion. Her funeral will follow at 6:00 PM at the funeral home. Interment will be in Armory Hill Cemetery in the spring.
In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made in Doris' memory to St. Jude's Children's Hospital, 501 St. Jude Pl. Memphis, TN 38105. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
