Dorothy (Dottie) Kalthoff, 92, passed away Friday, December 20, 2017 at St. Elizabeth's Hospital after a brief illness.
She was born July 15, 1924 in Carnegie, PA., the daughter of the late John and Ethel (Mezick) Gala and was educated in PA and NY schools. Dottie was employed as a secretary retiring from H.C.C.C. Prior that that she also worked d at G.E. in Utica and Herd Shoes.
Dottie was a WWII veteran serving as a WAC Sgt. in Frankfurt, Germany. She was a member of St. Augustine's Episcopal Church where she was active with the Ladies Guild and choir, she also enjoyed playing cards with local ladies groups.
Dottie is survived by her son Charles and his fianc Peg O'Leary of Middleville, her daughter Marilyn Kalthoff of Ilion a brother and sister in law John and Rose Gala of Cape Coral, Fl., a sister and brother in law Mildred and Ted Alexanderowicz of Mohawk, a grandson and his wife Matthew and Ruth Daz of Cicero and many nieces nephews and cousins.. She also leaves three great grandchildren Addison, Matthew and Anna Daz, she was predeceased by her granddaughter Morgan Kalthoff; her husband Charles, her brother and his wife Edward and Ethel Gala and two sisters and their husbands Marion and Mitro Demcko and Joan and Bruce Clark.
Dorothy's Funeral Mass will be from St. Augustine's Church on Tuesday January 24, 2017 at 11:00 AM with Bishop Daniel Herzog officiating. Interment will be in the spring at Armory Hill Cemetery. Friends may call Monday January 23 from 4-7 PM at the Whiter-Hendrix Funeral Home, Inc., 100 Otsego St., Ilion, N.Y.
