Ilion - Mrs. Elizabeth Laymon, 80, of Ilion, passed away peacefully on October 24, 2024, in the comfort of her home.
Liz was born on January 2, 1944, a daughter of the late Rose Delucia and David Nabinger. She grew up in Mohawk, where she graduated from Mohawk High School with the Class of 1962. She went on to build a beautiful life, marrying Jerry Laymon Sr. on June 27, 1970 in the Ilion United Methodist Church. Liz spent many years employed with Duofold in Ilion, known for her strong work ethic and friendly nature. Later in her career, she worked at Fiberdyne Labs, retiring in 2011. Throughout her life, she cherished simple joys—whether diving into a good book, gathering with loved ones, or spending precious moments with her grandchildren, who were the light of her life.
She will be deeply missed by her husband, Jerry Laymon Sr., her children, and all those whose lives she touched with her warmth and kindness.
She is survived by her beloved husband, Jerry Laymon, Sr of Ilion; her children, David Laymon and his wife, Judi of Las Vegas, NV, Jerry Laymon Jr. of Ilion and Alicia Rood, her husband Jeff and his son, Tyler of Ilion; her beloved grandchildren, Jonathan Laymon and his wife Alyssa, Alexandria and her husband, John Reid, Jordan Laymon and his wife, Shaye and her great-grandchildren, Lyla Rose, Maylee Aleena, Madalyn Elizabeth, Wyatt John, Adira Ann & Julia Beth.
She was predeceased by one brother, David "Skip" Nabinger; two sisters, Sandra Gay & Cecile "Teal" Robellard and several of her beloved feline companions, especially Chipmunk.
In keeping with Liz's wishes, there will be no public calling hours. The family will receive friends at 6:30 pm on Friday, November 1, 2024 at the Ilion Elks. Arrangements have been entrusted to the Whiter-Hendrix Funeral Home, 100 Otsego St. Ilion, NY 13357.
In lieu of flowers, and in honor of her great love for animals, donations may be made in Liz's memory to the Herkimer County Humane Society, 514 NY-5S, Mohawk, NY 13407.
