Ellen Mae Walrad Fahey, 76, died October 18, 2016 surrounded by her family in Marietta, Georgia.
Ellen was born September 3, 1940 in Herkimer, NY to Iona Trevett Walrad and William Walrad.
A graduate of Herkimer High School, she married her High School Sweet Heart, J. Mark Fahey in 1959.
She lived with her husband/best friend for 25 years in Herkimer, 18 years in Ilion, 12 years in Port Saint Lucie, Florida and her final years in Marietta, GA.
As a stay at home mom for 18 years, Ellen was active in school and church parent organizations as well as actively sewing and crocheting for both leisure and practicality.
She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother as well an avid reader, ardent pet lover, cooking enthusiast and the epitome of kindness.
She worked for 18 years at Herkimer County Trust Company where she loved interacting with people in her community. Ellen and Mark were active members in both the Ilion Elk's Lodge and the Port Saint Lucie Elk's Lodge. She spent more than 60 summers on Canadarago Lake at camp and would often share memories, with laughter, of her favorite times. Her 13 grandchildren were a joy to her and she doted on them for 26 years.
Ellen was predeceased by her daughter, Jan Redmond.
She is survived by her husband, J. Mark of 57 years and children: Mark of High Point, NC, Cindy and Peter Brown of Marietta, GA, Karen Kohler of Clifton Park, NY and Rob and Kris Lennox Fahey of Ilion, NY.
In addition, she will be greatly missed by her son-in law, Stephen Redmond and 13 grandchildren living in NY, GA, NC, WA , Il and CA as well as her sister, Jan and Charles Smits of Sebastian, FL.
A prayer memorial will be held in Marietta as well as a graveside prayer service in Ilion at a summer date to be determined.
