Esther Chase Brown, 86, of 717 Johnson Avenue, Herkimer, New York passed away on Friday, July 29, 2016 at Mohawk Valley Health Care in Ilion.
Esther was born in Oneonta on July 16, 1930, the daughter of the late Edgar and Pearl (Miller) Chase and was educated in Ilion High School.
On May 7, 1955 Esther was married to Arthur Brown.
Esther was the office manager for the Herkimer County Highway Department for several years until her retirement.
She enjoyed camping and her camp at Canadarago Lake and she was also an avid sewer, enjoyed painting and her miniature dollhouses.
Esther was the organist for her church and several others for several years
Esther is survived by her loving husband, Arthur Brown, two sons and daughter in laws, Thomas and Sally of Clinton and David and Carla of Clemmens, NC, a daughter and son in law, Norma and Timothy Swartout of Richfield Springs, five grandchildren, Kevin and Jordan Brown, Adam, Evan and Kathryn Swartout.
A sister in law, Barbara Chase of Mohawk Esther was predeceased by her brother James Chase and a sister Jennie Hardy.
Funeral services for Esther with be held on Tuesday, August 2, 2016 at 10:30am at the Whiter-Hendrix Funeral Home, Inc., 100 Otsego Street, Ilion, New York with Rev. Jill Stellman officiating.
Interment will follow at Armory Hill Cemetery in Ilion.
Friends may call on Monday, August 1, 2016 from 4 to 6pm at the funeral home.
