Ethyl Louise
Brown
October 19, 1952 – May 24, 2026
Frankfort - Ethyl Louise Upson Brown, age 73, passed away on May 24, 2026, at the Wynn Hospital, with her loving family by her side.
Ethyl was born in Ilion on October 19, 1952, a daughter of the late Elmer "Ted" and Louise Weingates Upson. She attended and graduated from Frankfort-Schuyler Schools and was employed in various capacities at Heritage Health Care Center in Utica for many years.
Ethyl will be remembered as a kind, caring, and selfless mother who always put the needs of her family first. She treasured time spent with those she loved and was always up for going for a ride or out shopping, usually making sure to stop somewhere to enjoy a good meal along the way.
She is survived by her beloved children, Susanne (BFF) of Frankfort and Jason Brown and his wife, Kim, of Newport; her cherished granddaughter, Morgan; and the joy of her life, her great-granddaughter, Avalon. She also leaves behind her brothers and sisters-in-law, Stuart and Sharon Upson of Frankfort, Roy and Cathy Upson of Mohawk, and Glenn and Wendy Upson of Iva, South Carolina; along with many special cousins. Ethyl also remained close friends with her former husband, Larry Brown.
She was predeceased by her parents, Ted and Louise; her sister, Marjorie "Margie" Upson, whom she cared for for many years; her infant brother, Raymond; her brother and sister-in-law, Robert and Janice Upson; as well as many beloved aunts and uncles.
Ethyl's family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the nurses and staff of the Wynn Hospital ICU for the exceptional care, compassion, and kindness they provided to Ethyl during her time there. Special thanks are also extended to Dr. V. Sharma, Dr. Sikder and staff, and Renee Carney, NP, for their dedicated care and support.
In keeping with Ethyl's wishes, services will be held privately at the convenience of her family. Arrangements are under the direction of the Whiter-Hendrix Funeral Home, 100 Otsego Street, Ilion, NY 13357.
