Grace E. Smith Cole, 95 of Millers Mills, passed away on Tuesday March 18, 2014 at Faxton- St. Luke's Health Care in New Hartford.
Grace was born in Litchfield NY on April 12, 1918, the daughter of the late Delano and Leola Smith.
She attended Crains Corners School and graduated from Ilion High School in 1937.
On June 3, 1939 she married Francis "Tance" Cole in the Ilion United Methodist Church.
Grace spent most of her life in the Litchfield area, finally moving to Millers Mills.
She belonged to the Litchfield Grange, later transferring to the Millers Mills Grange; she was a member of the Order of Eastern Star in Winfield, the Ladies Aid of Millers Mills and was a member of the Millers Mills Community Church.
She enjoyed sewing, cooking and caring for her family and helping her husband with the family farm for many years.
Grace is survived by her four children Sandra Ackerman of Smyrna TN; Robert Cole of Cedarville; Jean and her husband Paul Tragni of Clifton Park and Thomas and his wife Sandra of Cazenovia; a brother Leland Smith of Philadelphia, NY.
She also leaves nine grandchildren; ten great grandchildren; two great great grandchildren as well as several nieces, nephews, cousins and special friends and neighbors.
A memorial service for Grace will be held on Saturday March 22, 2014 at 11am at the Millers Mills Community Church, Pastor Ed Woodworth will officiate; interment will be in the spring in the Millers Mills Cemetery.
In keeping with her wishes there are no calling hours.
In lieu of flower please consider memorial donations to either the Herkimer County Humane Society or the Millers Mills Church; envelopes will be available at the service and the funeral home.
