Guy A. Tom Knapp

Herkimer - Brantingham, NY - Guy A. Tom Knapp, 91 of Ilion, passed away peacefully at home on March 29, 2023 with his loving family by his side. He was born on November 12, 1931 in West Schuyler, NY, the son of the late Ada Mae Ladd and Leroy S. Knapp.
Tom graduated from T.R. Proctor High School, class of 1950. Tom was married to the former Sandra Kay Geraty on August 23, 1958 at the Herkimer Methodist Church by the Reverend Fred Cotnam. Sandy and Tom cherished their home at Brantingham Lake. Tom's favorite saying was, "The sun always shines at Brantingham" He was the former owner of Dineen's restaurant in Herkimer. He also was a bar steward at the Lowville Elks for many years. Tom was a member of the Herkimer Methodist Church and a devoted member of the Lowville Elks Lodge #1605.
Tom leaves his sons Mark Thomas and wife, Diane of Northville, NY; Craig Peter and husband Andi of Atlanta, GA; one devoted, loving, thoughtful daughter, Kim Marie Knapp of Ilion; three devoted and loving grandsons, Jason Thomas Knapp (Nicole), Kyle John Knapp and Steven Mark Knapp (Bridgette); special neices, Sharron Connor, Sandy Majka, Laurie Wheelock that were devoted to their Uncle; nieces, Bonnie Fagle, Kelly Smithson and nephew Justin Wheelock that were always thoughtful and kept in touch with their Uncle Tommy. Tom is predeceased by his wife, Sandy on January 17, 1993; his daughter, Sherri Lyn Knapp on November 23, 1991; two sisters, Sally J. Fagle and Shirley Barrett and one brother, Harold Knapp.
Tom's family would like to thank so many members of the Lowville Elks and friends in Brantingham Lake. Dad purely enjoyed many laughs, stories, assistance and the love of many people. His family wants to thank Dan Bartlett, Dick Steele and Brandon Domieolo for their love and help. Calling hours will be Sunday, April 2, 2023 from 2:00 - 5:00 pm at the Whiter-Hendrix Funeral Home, 100 Otsego St. Ilion, NY 13357. Past and present officers of the Lowville Elks Lodge will perform a funeral service at 4:30 pm. Tom's funeral service will be held on Monday, April 3, 2023
at 2:00pm at the Whiter-Hendrix Funeral Home, with Pastor Joelle Faulks, officiating. Fond Memories and Expressions of Sympathy may be shared with the family of Mr. Knapp online at: www.whiter-hendrix.com .
