Gwendolyn "Audrey" Sassone, 90, passed away Tuesday, April 5, 2016 at M. I. Bassett Hospital, Cooperstown, NY. She was born February 11, 1926 in Shropshire, England the daughter of the late Charles and Elsie Jones Pryce and was educated in England. In 1945 she was married to Robert Bouck and then in 1958 she married Joseph R. Sassone, who passed away December 22, 1987.
Audrey was employed as a supervisor with Montgomery Ward, retiring in 1980 and was a member of St. Augustine's Episcopal Church in Ilion.
Audrey is survived by her children Audrey "Carole" and John Natarelli of Cicero, N.Y., Patricia and David Lennox of The Villages, FL., Robert Bouck and his special friend, Joanne Smith of Herkimer, Joseph Sassone Jr. of Ilion and Phyllis and Joseph Rocco of Frankfort, eight grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Besides her husband Joeseph and her parents, she was predeceased by her beloved son Phillip on October 13, 2005, two sisters Joan Boag and June Harrison, both of England, and a beloved daughter-in-law Joyce Bouck.
Funeral services will be held Saturday April 9, 2016 at 1:00 PM from the Whiter-Hendrix Funeral Home, Inc., 100 Otsego St., Ilion. Friends may call from 11:00 AM - 1:00 PM. Interment will be in the Armory Hill Cemetery.
Friends are asked to consider a memorial donation to the Herkimer County Humane Society in the name of Barney, Joe Sr. and Audrey's loved pet Barney.
