Harold A. Schorer, 88, of 106 Beebe Road Spur passed away Friday, May 18, 2012 at the Hickory Residence of the Sitrin Home, New Hartford.
Harold was born October 10, 1923 in Frankfort the son of the late Prosper and Carolin Seelbach Schorer; he received his education in the Frankfort School System, and was a graduate of Canton College.
Harold served with the US Army during WW2, receiving the Purple Heart during his active duty.
On December 27, 1947 Harold was united in marriage to the former Olga LaRouche.
Mrs. Schorer passed away July 2, 2011.
Harold was employed as a machinist with Bendix Corp.
in Utica for several years, and then as a seasonal worker with the Herkimer County Highway Dept.
Harold was a member of the Cedarville Vol. Fire Dept., and served as an E.M.T while there,
Life Member of the
Military Order of the Purple Heart and a past member of the Masonic Lodge, he enjoyed hunting , fishing and his hound dogs, in his
earlier years he also enjoyed trapping. Harold also loved to pick mushrooms, and enjoyed gardening.
Harold is survived by his children Sharon Seaman of Ilion, William and his wife Karen Schorer of Millers Mills, Craig and his wife Sherri Schorer of North Utica,
his brothers sisters in law Ronald and Joan Schorer of Mohawk, Steve and Shirley Schorer of Ilion, a sister and brother in law Dawn and Jerry Shipman of Ilion, his grand children Jennifer Humphrey and her fianc Fred Myers, Lisa and Gary Holland, Shiloh Schorer, and William Schorer, his great grandchildren Samantha Humphrey, Maeghan Myers, Reese Holland and Seth Schorer.
He was predeceased by his brothers Jack and Charles Schorer, and a sister Evelyn Mateunas.
In keeping with Mr. Schorer's wishes there will be no calling hours or public funeral service.
Friends are asked to consider memorials to the Cedarville Vol. Fire Dept. 960 State Rt. 51 Ilion, New York, 13357
The family would like to thank the staff of the Hickory House at Sitrin Nursing home for all the kindness and compassion shown Harold during his stay.
