Helen M. Brewer, 92, beloved mother and grandmother passed away peacefully on October 8, 2014.
She was at home surrounded by the love of her family.
Helen was born on June 2, 1922 in Ilion; the daughter of the late Albert and Josephine (Stewart) Donahue.
She was a graduate of Ilion Schools. On October 20, 1941 she married the love of her life Robert Brewer.
He passed away in 1992.
Helen is survived by her son, Gary and his wife, Sheryl Brewer of Aiken, SC; three daughters, Joyce Adams of Ilion, Carol and her husband Robert Crossman of Blairsville, GA and Karen and her husband William Conterras of Anderson, SC; a brother in law, Russell Brewer and two sister in laws, Pearl Hoke and Margaret Brewer.
She also leaves 12 grandchildren and 22 great grandchildren as well as several nieces and nephews.
She is predeceased by her brothers Clifford, Clyde, Mike, Richard and Stewart
Donahue; sisters, Pearl Fitzgibbons, Grace Heath and Mary Lynch; son in law, Thomas Adams, Sr and grandson, Brent Hurley.
Her strong faith during the past months provided strength for her family and an unforgettable lesson in life about duty, dignity and grace.
In keeping with Helen's wishes funeral services will be private and there are no calling hours.
Interment will be at the Armory Hill Cemetery in Ilion.
Helen was an avid animal lover leaving behind her beloved cat, Vanna.
Friends are asked to consider memorial donations to the Herkimer County Humane Society or Wounded Warrior Project. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
