Howard Alton Coy, a beloved resident of Cedarville, NY, passed away on Friday, February 28, 2025, at the age of 86. Born on July 30, 1938, in West Winfield, NY, Howard lived a life defined by hard work, dedication, and a deep commitment to his family and community.
Howard spent his career as a skilled molder, contributing his craftsmanship to Chicago Pneumatic in Utica, NY. Known for his diligence and expertise, he earned the admiration and respect of his colleagues and all who knew him.
A devoted public servant, Howard was a proud and longtime member of the Cedarville Fire Department for an incredible 60 years, embodying the true spirit of volunteerism and selflessness. His unwavering dedication to the department and his community left an indelible mark. He was also an active member of the Ilion Elks Lodge, the St. Francis Club, and the Knights of Columbus. Additionally, he was a seasonal member of Maple Crest Golf Course, where he enjoyed time with friends and fellow golfers.
Howard's greatest joy was his family. He is survived by his loving wife, Betty Coy; his son, Jeffrey Coy; his grandson, Christian Coy (Megan Giacovelli); and his three cherished great-granddaughters, Alexandria, Ryleigh, and Olivia Coy. He also leaves behind Terri Coy, wife of the late John Coy, as well as his brother and sister-in-law, Homer and Delores Coy. Howard was blessed with many close family members and friends who will forever treasure the memories they shared with him.
He was predeceased by his son, John Coy, whose memory he carried in his heart.
A visitation will be held on Friday, March 7, 2025, from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM at Whiter-Hendrix Funeral Home, 100 Otsego St, Ilion, NY 13357.
