ILION - Howard Theadore "Ted" Mowers, age 68, passed away on Thursday, January 12, 2023 in the comfort of his home with his loving family by his side.
Born in Corry, Pennsylvania, on March 1, 1954, Howard was the son of the late Howard A. and Madalyn (Lines) Mowers. Ted graduated from the National College of Chiropractic in Lombard, Illinois with a Doctor of Chiropractic Orthopedics degree. He went on to be the proud owner of Mohawk Valley Chiropractic Center in Frankfort, retiring in 1992. On February 27, 1994, Ted married the love of his life and best friend, Lynn Maley.
Ted loved his God, country, family, and constitution. He enjoyed the outdoors, camping, hunting, fishing, and singing. Some of his fondest memories were archery shoots he participated in with the kids. Ted sang in a couple Barbershop Quartets and Gospel Choirs. He was a communicant of the Ilion First Presbyterian Church.
Ted is survived by his wife, Lynn; children, Amanda and Barry Hein of Herkimer, Matthew Mowers of Ilion, Matthew and Jennifer McCann of Newport, NC, Luke McCann of San Francisco, CA, and Kyle and Cassie McCann of Springfield, OR; seven grandchildren; sisters, Rene Roth of Deerfield, Cindy and Rick Brewer of Ilion, Lisa Hatalla of Frankfort, and Amy and Paul Atwell of Gerry, NY; father-in-law, George Maley, Jr. of Ilion; and in-laws, Lee and Kim Maley of Ilion, Jan and Dave Heap of Herkimer, Lois Holden of Little York Lake, NY, and Kim Maley of Ilion. He was predeceased by his mother-in-law, Barbara Maley; and brothers-in-law, Scott Holden, and Steve Maley.
The family would like to thank Dr. Lance Sullenberger for his excellent care, the nurses and staff at Capital Cardiology Associates in Albany, the nurses at St. Peter's Hospital in Albany, and the ICU Angel nurses at Westchester Medical Center in Valhalla for all the compassionate care they gave to Ted.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, January 18, 2023 from 3:00-5:00 at the Whiter-Hendrix Funeral Home, 100 Otsego St., Ilion. A service will be held at the conclusion of visitation with Rev. Victor McKusick officiating.
