Iona Bohr, 82, of Forge Hill Estates passed away unexpectedly on Sunday April 17, 2011 in her home.
Iona was born in Utica, New York on August 3, 1928, she was the daughter of the late Walter and Beatrice Cushman Terrell.
She was raised and educated in Utica, graduating from Utica Catholic Academy Class of 1946.
On July 5, 1952 she married Ned E. Bohr in St. Agnes Church, Utica.
Prior to her marriage, she was employed by the Hospital Plan, Inc., Blue Cross Blue Shield.
Years later, after the birth of her three children she was a Teacher's Aide in the Ilion Central School District for 23 years, until her retirement in June, 1990.
She was a member of the Church of The Annunciation and the former Cedar Lake Club.
She is survived by her husband Ned E. Bohr, a daughter Kathleen (John Hannon), a son Richard, grandchildren Steven Hannon and Scott (Lindsay) Hannon and a brother in law John E. LeRoux.
She was predeceased by a son Ned James Bohr and a sister June Terrell LeRoux.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday April 20, 2011 at 10:00 am at The Church of The Annunciation in Ilion with the Very Rev. Anthony Barratt officiating assisted by Deacon James Bower.
Interment will be in the Armory Hill Cemetery in Ilion.
In keeping with Iona's wishes there are no calling hours and friends are asked to please omit floral offerings.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Church of The Annunciation, Catholic Charities or the charity of one's choice.
Envelopes will be available at Whiter-Hendrix Funeral Home, Inc. or the church.
