James Eugene 'Jim' Farley

James E. Farley, 77, of 148 West North Street, passed away on Monday, November 23, 2015, at his home, with his loving family by his side.
Jim was born on February 27, 1938 in Ilion, the son of the late
Terrance and Elizabeth (Blais) Farley. He received his education at Annunciation School in Ilion and graduated from Ilion High School. Jim was married to Barbara Butler who passed away in 2000. Jim was then united in marriage on October 20, 2001 to the former Elaine Schoonmaker at the VFW, Herkimer.
Jim enlisted in the US Air Force in 1955 where he served honorably until June of 1958. After his discharge from the Air Force Jim was
employed as a mason for several years and then was employed with Acorn Plastics in Ilion, retiring in 2011.
Jim is survived by his wife "babe" Elaine, his children Tammy and Steven
Baum of Ilion, Tracy and Jeff of Herkimer, and Jamie of Ilion; a daughter-in-law Barbara of Whitesboro, a brother Tom Farley of North Carolina, sisters Peggy
Orendorf of Ilion, Jean(Ron) Wilson of Ilion, Mary (Joe) Sangenetti of Herkimer, and Cindy (Roy) Gengler of Rome, NY; his beloved grandchildren Carli, Alexis, Tyler, Jasmine, Reeve, Jeb, Mariah and many children to whom he was known
as "Poppy" especially Lyndsey and Alayah; and many nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by a brother Willard Farley and a sister Donna Mower.
He also leaves behind his beloved K9 companion Savannah.
During Jim's life he was always first and foremost a very proud Veteran.
Friends are invited to attend calling hours for Jim on Monday, November 30, 2015 from 11:00am to 1:00pm at the Whiter-Hendrix Funeral Home Inc. 100 Otsego St, Ilion, the funeral service will follow at 1:00pm with Deacon Dennis Jones officiating. Interment will follow in the St. Agnes Cemetery, Town of Herkimer.
The family wishes to give a special thank you to Phyllis, Andrea and Laura for all of their help. In lieu of flowers please consider donations to the family or Hospice and
Palliative Care. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
