Janet A. Smith, 76, of 15 Armory Street Ilion passed away Sunday, June 17, 2012 at her home. She was born September 28, 1935 in Canandaigua, NY the daughter of the late Harold and Margaret Schaffer Strong, and received her education in the Fairport Schools.
On December 20, 1972 Janet was united in marriage to Wallace Smith, Mr. Smith passed away on October 21, 1989.
Janet was employed as a nurses aid and worked at Mohawk Valley Nursing Home in Ilion, and Folts Home in Herkimer, she also did private duty nursing. Janet was a member of the Baptist Church in Fairport, NY, and a member of the American Legion Aux. Post 920, Ilion.
Janet is survived by her grandson John Parker with whom she resided, two sons Brian Parker of Shortsville, and David Parker of Ilion, two daughters and a son in law Rhonda LaPorta of Ilion and Crystal and Ricardo Zubazycki of Rochester, a brother and sister in law Merle and Mary Ann, two sisters and brothers in law Millie and Chuck, and Dorothy and George, 8 grand children and 1 great grandchild.
Friends are invited to attend a Memorial Graveside service to be held on Friday June 22, 2012 at 3:00PM in the Armory Hill Cemetery with Rev. Dr. Andrew Peloubet officiating.
In keeping with Janet's wishes there are no calling hours
Arrangements are with the Whiter-Hendrix Funeral Home Inc. 100 Otsego Street Ilion.
