Janet Snyder

Ilion - Janet E. Snyder, 79, of Ilion, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, September 16, 2025, at Alpine Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Little Falls after a courageous battle with cancer.

She was born on February 16, 1946, in Utica, NY, the daughter of the late Donald and Jeanette Roberts Garrigan. Janet went on to earn her Associate's Degree at Morrisville College and built a dedicated career as a Personnel Director with A.A.R. Engine Component Service in Frankfort, NY. She was respected for her professionalism, care for her colleagues, and commitment to her work. Janet was united in marriage to Eugene Snyder on September 16, 1972, who preceded her in death in 1993. She was also preceded in death by her brother, John Garrigan.

Janet's greatest joy in life was her family. She is survived by her two daughters, Kristen (Ryan) Branner and Julie Snyder. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Isabella and Lucas Kleban and Aubrey Branner, who was the light of her life. She leaves behind her beloved cat named Kitty, who brought her years of joy. She also leaves behind her very special friend Susan Loomis, who was like a daughter to her.

A special thank you to her Hospice Nurse, Tiana, whom Janet loved. And thank you for the kindness and care she was provided during her brief stay at Alpine.

A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Wednesday, September 24, 2025, at 10:30 a.m. at the Church of the Annunciation, 50 West St., Ilion, NY 13357. Interment will follow in Carmichael Hill Cemetery, Westernville, NY. Arrangements are under the direction of the Whiter-Hendrix Funeral Home, 100 Otsego St., Ilion, NY 13357.
