Janice Lydia Degristina

Mohawk - Mrs. Janice L. DeGristina, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and friend, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, December 24th, 2024, at the age of 86.

Janice was born on March 2, 1938, in Deansboro, NY, a daughter of the late Millard and Francis Dibble Hughes. She was married to Natale DeGristina. A blessed union they shared until Natale passing on September 24, 2011.

Janice dedicated her life to her family and worked alongside her husband Natale at the DeGristina Farm in Mohawk for many years. Known for her caring and nurturing nature, Janice was a true "Mother Hen".

An avid lover of word puzzles and a Bingo champion, Janice found joy in the simple pleasures of life. She cherished her time spent with family, especially when her son and grandsons would visit for hunting trips. Her daughter, Lucy, held a special place in her heart, and their lunches at Sorrento's, her favorite restaurant, were treasured moments spent together.

Janice is survived by her children Peter (Sharon) DeGristina, Lucy (William) Mattice, Natalie (William) Cole; her beloved grandchildren Anthony and Nicholas DeGristina, Tyler and Savannah Cole; one brother William (Elenor) Hughes; brother and sister-in-laws Florence, Carl, and Lucille DeGristina; many loving nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Janice is predeceased by her beloved husband Natale DeGristina, her brother Millard Hughes; her sister-in-law Mayme Licari and niece Kim.

Services will be held privately at the convenience of her family. Arrangements have been entrusted to the Whiter-Hendrix Funeral Home, 100 Otsego St. Ilion, NY 13357. She will be laid to rest with her beloved husband in Calvary Cemetery in Herkimer, later in the Spring.

Janice's family would like to give there sincere thanks to the doctors and staff at Bassett Little Falls Hospital and the special caregivers that gave loving care to Janice during her stay at the Alpine Nursing Home.
