Joan A. Basler 77 of 11 Hoefler Ave., Ilion passed away Wednesday August 8, 2012 at St. Lukes Medical Center, New Hartford.
Joan was born September 25, 1934 in Watertown, NY the daughter of the late Harris O. and Julia Buzack Ford, and received her education in the Watertown Schools and later attended Cortland College.
On June 29, 1957 Joan was united in marriage to her "Bubala", Richard Basler in Watertown.
Joan was a stay at home mom where she shared the love and caring for her seven children, whom she lovingly referred to as her "7 Demons".
Joan is survived by her husband Richard, her children and their spouses Donald of Frankfort, Debbi and Leonard Amadio, Jr. of Kennesaw, GA, Daniel and Nadine Basler of Ilion, Dorri and Michael DeRollo of Frankfort, Dotti and Sal Gerace of Raleigh, NC., Della and David Grosse of Ilion, and Dennis and his fianc Stephanie Chimento of Herkimer, a sister and brother in law Jane and Paul Pecori of Watertown, A sister-in-law Barbara Carpenter of Ilion, also 17 grand children Nichole, David, Julia, Trey, Christina, Carl, Ryan, Francesca, Michael, Michael, Anthony, Marissa, Dennis, Andrew, Nick, John Michael, and Logan.
Friends are invited to attend a memorial service for Joan to be held on Monday August 13, 2012 at 7:00 PM from the Whiter-Hendrix Funeral Home Inc. 100 Otsego Street Ilion, with David Lahey a family friend officiating. Friends may call at the funeral home from 5:00 - the time of the service.
