Ilion - It is with broken hearts that we announce the passing of Joseph (Joe) Edward McCarthy Jr., of Ilion, after suffering a severe stroke.

On July 17, 1981, Joe married the love of his life, Deborah (Vivyan) McCarthy, at St. Francis de Sales Church in Herkimer, NY. Joe and Deb shared 44 wonderful years of marriage and truly became each other’s best friends. The family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to the ICU staff and doctors at Bassett Healthcare for their compassion and dedication during this difficult time.
As a final thought, we encourage people to remember this: life is short, and tomorrow is never guaranteed. Live fully, don’t sweat the small stuff, and spend time with the people who make your life better.
Joe will be forever missed and always remembered with love.
