June M. Smith 75, of Ilion passed away on Friday March 19, 2010 at Denicola's Easy Living.
June was born on May 21, 1934 in Johnstown, NY the daughter of the late Arthur and Sylvia (Stoller) Abbott.
She was a graduate of Johnstown High School.
Prior to her marriage she was employed at State Bank of Albany in Johnstown.
Later in her life she put her love of caring for the elderly to use as a certified home health aid.
June enjoyed spending time with her family, going shopping and out to dinner.
She was a loving and compassionate person who would always keep in touch with her family and friends.
Her sense of humor would bring a smile to the faces of those who knew her.
June is survived by her two daughters Cherri Hyer of Ilion and Michele Smith of Yorkville.
Her three granddaughters, Leigh Parks of Ilion, Brooke Bennett and her fianc Matt Palumbo of Frankfort and Nicole Bennett of Ilion.
She also leaves her cherished great granddaughter Ryan Audrey Parks.
Her special nieces and nephews Nadine Abbott, Jennifer Cassidy, Beth Blake and Duane Abbott, and a sister in law Patricia Abbott all of Johnstown as well as several cousins and friends in Johnstown.
She also leaves her grand dog Daisy.
She is pre deceased by a brother David.
Funeral services for June will be held on Tuesday March 23, 2010 at 1pm at the Whiter-Hendrix Funeral Home Inc. 100 Otsego St. in Ilion.
Rev Robert Wollaber will officiate; interment will follow in the Armory Hill Cemetery in Ilion.
Friends may call on Tuesday from 11 am until the time of the funeral.
IN lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Assn. envelopes are available at the funeral home.
June's family wish to thank the staff, at Denicola's Easy Living, for the care and compassion given to June during her stay.
