Leona Burton

Leona Burton, 89 of Flower Dr. in Ilion, passed away on Tuesday October 22, 2013 at Mohawk Valley Health Care in Ilion.
Leona was born on March 29, 1924 in Ireland Indiana, the daughter of Theodore and Mary (Striegel) Mehringer.
She was educated in Ireland In. schools and during WWII she worked at Jasper Wood Products in Jasper IN, then later in her career she worked at National Desk, Standard Furniture.
Leona retired from UNIVAC as a personal records clerk, dealing with pension and retirement in 1972.
On August 5, 1947 Leona married Carl Burton in Ilion.
Leona was a member of the AARP.
She enjoyed boating with Carl on their boat "The Carle" out of Sandy Pond.
Leona is survived by her husband, of 66 years, Carl; two special cousins Anna Mae Rupprschert and Thomas Hollar, as well as several other cousins.
She was predeceased by a brother Arnold.
In keeping with Leona's wishes funeral services will be private and there are no calling hours, interment will be in Crown Hill Memorial Park in New Hartford.
Friends are asked to consider memorial donations in Leona's name to the American Heart Association.
Arrangements are with the Whiter-Hendrix Funeral Home Inc. 100 Otsego St in Ilion.
