ILION
Lewis R. Eddy, 81, of Elm Street, Ilion passed away on Wednesday, September 16, 2009 at home with his family by his side.
Lew was born on November 22, 1927, the son of the late Vernon and Florence (Diehl) Eddy.
He attended and graduated from Ilion Schools and played in a country band called the Countrymen in the 50's and 60's. Lew served in the United States Air Force, and was stationed in Biloxi, Mississippi before becoming a radio receiver operator at Keesler Air Force Base in Washington.
Lew worked many years for Landon Hughes in Utica and retired from the New York State Thruway.
After retiring, the family traveled and spent a lot of time camping in the Adirondacks.
He was a member of the Mason's for many years.
Lew is survived by his wife, Mary, one daughter, Connie (Tim) Ingersoll of Litchfield, one son Raymond (Joelle) Eddy of Auburn, five grandsons, Andrew and Zachary Brown and Timmy Ingersoll all of Litchfield, Nicholas and Christopher Eddy of Auburn and one granddaughter, Leah of Auburn, three step-children, Julie of Las Vegas, Laurie of Livingston Manor, NY and Kenneth of Litchfield, one brother and sister-in-law, Robert and Carm Eddy of Ilion.
Graveside services for Lew will be held on Monday September 21, 2009 at 11:00am in the Armory Hill Cemetery, Ilion.
Rev. Robert Wollaber will officiate.
In keeping with Lew's wishes there are no calling hours.
Friends are asked to consider memorial donations to the Ilion Fire Dept. Ambulance.
Envelopes are available at the funeral home.
