Margaret M. 'Marge' Yardley
March 25, 1925 — July 31, 2018
Margaret "Marge" Yardley, 93 of Oneida, passed away on Tuesday July 31, 2018 at Oneida Healthcare Center.
Marge was born on March 25, 1925, in Frankfort, NY.
She was the daughter of the late Matthias and Mary (Gibbons) Murray.
She attended and graduated from Frankfort Schools. She married Harry Yardley of Ilion, NY on June 11, 1949.
Marge and Harry raised their family and lived in Ilion for many years.
Harry, a career Ilion firefighter, passed away on December 12, 1984.
Marge worked at and retired from Mohawk Valley General Hospital in Ilion.
After moving to Oneida to be close to her grandchildren, Marge volunteered as a senior companion at the NYS Day-Hab program in Oneida, NY and retired at the age of 81.
Marge is survived by her three children; Scott of Oneida, Jan and her companion Michael Golemo of Chicopee, MA and Lance and his wife Moira and two beloved grandchildren Nicholas and Jillian Yardley all of Oneida; a sister-in-law Winnie Murray of Corfu, NY as well as several nieces and nephews.
She is predeceased by her siblings Helen, Catherine, Jane, Rita and Joseph.
A memorial mass for Marge will be celebrated on Monday August 6, 2018 at 1 pm at St. Francis de Sales Church in Herkimer, where her nephew and godson, Fr. Mark Cunningham will officiate.
Interment will follow in the Armory Hill Cemetery in Ilion.
In keeping with Marge's wishes, there are no calling hours.
Arrangements are with the Whiter-Hendrix Funeral Home Inc. 100 Otsego St. in Ilion.
