Margaret R. "Peg" Byrnes 84, formerly of Ilion passed away on Friday June 6, 2014 at Oneida City Hospital.
Peg was born July 20, 1929 in Utica, NY the daughter of the late Louis A. and Laura Sparker Sparrin and was a graduate of the Ilion High School. Peg was married to Wesley A. Byrnes, Wes passed away in 1989.
Peg was employed as a Key Punch Operator with UNIVAC in Utica in the 1960's and 1970's, in Utica then Mohawk Valley General Hospital in the 1970's.
Upon moving to Florida Peg was employed with E. Systems in Bushnell, Florida as a Time Keeper retiring in the 1990's.
While a resident in Ilion Peg was a member of the Church of the Annunciation and the Catholic Daughters.
Peg was a loving mom and grandmother and will be missed by her family. In her spare time Peg was an avid reader and enjoyed doing crossword puzzles.
Surviving her are her children David and Theresa Byrnes of Delmar, NY, Susan and Carl J. Menge of Malta, NY, Priscilla and James West of Canastota, NY, and Margaret and Joseph Annutto of Merrimack, NH, a brother and sister in law Michael and Nancy Sparrin of Ilion, NY, also 8 grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren, one nephew and four nieces.
She was predeceased a brother Louis Sparrin, and a sister Madeline (Sparrin) Houck.
Friends are invited to attend calling hours for Peg from 12-2 on Wednesday, June 11, 2014 with her funeral to follow at 2:00PM at the Whiter-Hendrix Funeral Home Inc., 100 Otsego Street, Ilion, and NY with Deacon James Bower officiating.
Interment will follow in the Armory Hill Cemetery, Ilion.
