Margery Ann Murray

April 24, 1943 — October 3, 2024

Ilion, NY – Margery Ann (Wohler) Murray, a lifetime resident of Ilion, NY, passed away peacefully on Thursday, October 3, 2024, at the age of 81 at Crouse Hospital in Syracuse, NY. Born in Ilion on April 24, 1943, Margery was the beloved daughter of the late Gerald and Helen Wohler and the cherished wife of the late Robert Murray.

Margery was a proud graduate of Ilion High School and spent many years working in a variety of positions for the Ilion Central School District. Additionally, she worked with the Legal Aid Society of New York and served on the Ilion Housing Authority Board of Directors, demonstrating her commitment to her community and its well-being.

Margery’s life was defined by her love for her community and her family. She was affectionally known as "Ma Murray" to the neighborhood kids growing up. She was a comforting presence and a familiar face, always offering warmth and generosity to anyone who crossed her path. Her passing leaves a void that can never truly be filled, but her spirit will forever linger in the halls of the Ilion schools and in the hearts of all who knew her.

She was predeceased by her parents, Gerald D. and Helen (Preston) Wohler; her loving husband, Robert Murray; her son, John Murray; her daughter, Linda Klink; her sisters, Karen Wohler, Carol Wohler, and Janice Wohler Reganelli; and her loyal dog companion, Bingo.

Margery is survived by her sister, Barbara Wohler Maine, and her husband, Walter; her sons, James and Theresa Murray, David and Therese Murray, and Roger and Julia Murray; Daughter-in-law June Murray; Son-in-law Richard Klink; and a very special niece, Melissa (Missy) Wohler (Chad), who was more like a daughter, and whose commitment to Margery has been truly cherished. Margery is also survived by her grandchildren: Christine Brant (Mike), Korina Palic (Mel), Matthew Murray, Jacob Murray (Susanne), Travis Murray (Jenna), and Rachel Meszler (Zach), along with several great-grandchildren: Alexis, Baylee, Melija, Lijana, Hailey, Payton, Zoey, Pia, and Nora. She leaves behind several nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews.
