Margie S. Brewer 89 formerly of Prindle Apartments Ilion, most recently of Claxton Manor, Herkimer passed away on Monday February 2, 2015 at Little Falls Hospital.
Margie was born April 17, 1925 in Cincinnati, OH the daughter of the late Pryse and Julia King Smith, and received her education in the Ilion Central School District.
On September 4, 1943 Margie was united in marriage to John "Jack" Brewer in Ilion. Jack passed away on May 13, 2008.
Margie was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Ilion, a former member of the Order of the Eastern Star, Past President of the Mohawk Valley General Hospital Guild, the Ilion Republican Club, The Herkimer County Republican Committee.
Margie enjoyed playing bridge with her friends, her time spent at camp with her family and friends. She also enjoyed her time with friends at Prindle Apts. and Claxton Manor.
Margie is survived by a son and daughter in law Terry and Betty Brewer of East Greenbush, NY, a daughter and son in law Cynthia and Edmund Myers
of Little Falls, NY , two daughters in laws Carol Stevens Brewer of Windom, NY and Melanie Brewer of Speculator, NY, two sisters and a brother in law Juanita Burger of Ilion , and Joan and Doug Hall Old Orchard Beach, MA., her grandchildren Rachel and Mike, Johonna and Drew,
Christina and Eric, Andrea, John lll, Shane, Bub and Candice, Monica and John, Deven and Rick, Derek, Hillary and Mike, Geoffrey, Amanda and Christopher and Melissa and Tim.
She was predeceased by two sons Douglas, and John Jr.
Friends may call from 4:00 to 7:00 PM on Thursday February 5, 2015 at the Whiter-Hendrix Funeral Home Inc. 100 Otsego Street, Ilion, Margie's funeral service will be held on Friday February 6, 2015 at 1:00 PM at the funeral home with Rev. Ruth Kuo, officiating.
Interment will be in the Armory Hill Cemetery, Ilion in the spring.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to Dr. Adamson and his staff and Claxton Manor for all the care and compassion shown to Margie while she was a resident.
