Marjorie H. Smith, 90 of Mohawk, formerly of Schuyler, passed away on Tuesday March 11, 2014 at her home, with her loving family by her side.
Marjorie was born on November 30, 1923 in East Schuyler, New York; she was the daughter of the late James and Edith (Williams) Hughes.
She was a graduate of Thomas Proctor High School and was employed at Griffiss Air Base.
She was a member of the East Schuyler Methodist Church.
On September 3, 1949 she married Francis Smith in Schuyler; he passed away April 2, 2000.
Marjorie is survived by her son Gary and his wife Linda of Frankfort; two daughters Mary Lou and her husband David Lally of Ilion and Tammy and her husband Steven Quackenbush of Mohawk.
She also leaves 9 grandchildren Christopher Lally, Shannon Perri, Ryan Lally and Megan Wells; Justin Smith, Courtney Ireland and Sara Smith; Samantha Quackenbush and Tara Walker and 12 great grandchildren Zachary, Max, Cruz, Tess, Rachel, Mackenzie, Claire, Kelsey, Grace, Reegan, Audrey and Teaghan.
In keeping with Marjorie's wishes there are no calling hours and a graveside service will be held in the spring in the Carr Cemetery, Marcy, NY.
Marjorie's family wish to thank Justin, for her laughter, nurses Jenny and Elena, volunteer Linda and all the HOSPICE staff including Melissa, Laura and Ann.
Also her friends, neighbors and a special niece Debbie. It has been a wonderful experience.
Arrangements are with the Whiter-Hendrix Funeral Home Inc. 100 Otsego St. in Ilion.
Friends are asked to consider memorial donations to HOSPICE and Palliative Care, Middlesettlement Rd. in New Hartford.
Envelopes are available at the funeral home.
