Martha Louise March

Ilion - Mrs. Martha "Marty" Louise March, 70, passed away peacefully on February 3, 2024 at at Wynn Hospital in Utica.
Marty was born on July 24, 1953 in Norwich, NY, a daughter of the late Edward and Naomi Sprague Dempsey. On June 29, 1986 she was united in marriage with Paul March in Norwich. The two shared a blessed union of over 30 years until Paul's passing on September 4, 2017. Marty was employed as a Domestic Violence Case Worker with Catholic Charities for many years and was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Ilion.
Marty is survived by her son, Walter Slentz and his wife Kelly, their children Anthony, Merissa, Timothy and Joshua; Daniel Slentz and his wife, Jessica and their children, William and Pluuto; one brother, Steven Dempsey and his wife Patricia; and two sisters, Donna Swartout and her husband Denny and Melissa Dempsey Cleveland. She was predeceased by two brothers, Terrence and Daniel and one sister Linda Cate.
Calling hours will be held on Saturday, February 10, 2024 from 10AM-12PM in the Whiter-Hendrix Funeral Home, 100 Otsego St. in Ilion. A funeral service will be held immediately following at 12 PM in the Whiter-Hendrix Funeral Home with Rev. Betsy Jay of the First Presbyterian Church of Ilion, officiating. Interment will take place later in the Spring in Armory Hill Cemetery in Ilion.
