Martha Miekam Reals, 68 of Mohawk, passed away on Thursday, March 9, 2017 at home.
Martha was born on July 1, 1948 in Utica, the daughter of the late E. Otto and Marguerite (Wood) Miekam.
She was a graduate of Utica Free Academy and Utica College.
She married Robert W. Reals, Jr May 18, 1974.
She was a claims examiner with the NYS Office of Unemployment, retiring in 2008.
Her retirement was filled with the activities that she loved: quilting, stamping, painting, water color, baking, gardening, and a good book.
She also spent time traveling with her family. Martha was an active member and volunteer at the First Presbyterian Church of Ilion. She was also active a long side her husband with the Boy Scouts of America.
Martha is survived by her husband, Robert; a son, Christian A. Reals of Seattle, WA; a daughter, Sarah B. Reals of Utica; sisters-in law, Linda (William "Pat") Whalen and Kathy (James) Bluett.
She also leaves her life long, best friend, Pat Regan as well as several nieces and nephews.
A memorial for Martha will be held on Tuesday, March 14, 2017 at 1:00 pm at the First Presbyterian Church of Ilion with Rev. Rick Riggle officiating.
Interment will be in the spring in the Mohawk Cemetery Annex.
Friends may call on Monday, March 13, 2017 at the Whiter-Hendrix Funeral Home Inc., 100 Otsego Street, Ilion from 4 to 7 pm.
