Mary Elizabeth O'Connor, 93, of Ilion, passed away on Tuesday, October 31, 2017 at Folt's Home in Herkimer with her family by her side.
Mary was born on June 13, 1924, in Utica, NY.
She was the daughter of the late Mary (Back) Harris.
Mary was a graduate of St. Francis De Sales School and Utica School of Commerce.
On February 8, 1947, she was married in the Saints Peter & Paul Church in Frankfort to Timothy J. O'Connor.
He passed away on June 6, 2003.
Mary served in the U.S. Navy from 1944 to 1946, and later worked for Office of Price Administration in Utica and Mohawk Data Sciences in Herkimer until her retirement.
She was also a member and the past Commander of Women's American Legion Post 1719 in Mohawk, American Legion Post 920 in Ilion, and WAVES National Leatherstocking, WAVE Unit #26.
Mary is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Timothy and Regis Maria O'Connor of Buffalo; her two daughters and son-in-laws, Mary Erin and Christopher Blair of Ilion, and Kathleen O'Connor and Stuart Smith of St. Louis, MO; her brother-in-law, Chant O'Connor; sister-in-law, Liz O'Connor; two grandchildren, Gerald M. Blair and Erin Elizabeth Blair; two great grandchildren, Connor and Evan; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
A Funeral Mass will be held on Saturday, November 4 at 10:30 am from the Church of The Annunciation, with Father Paul Catena officiating.
Friends may call on Friday, November 3 from 3 to 6 pm at the Whiter-Hendrix Funeral Home, Inc., 100 Otsego Street, Ilion, NY.
The Herkimer County American Legion and Leatherstocking WAVES will be offering services starting at 5:40 pm.
Interment will follow in the Armory Hill Cemetery, Ilion, with full military honors.
