Mary Ella Sickler

Mary Ella Sickler 90 of 435 North Bellinger Street, Herkimer, passed away Monday, December 12, 2011 at St. Elizabeth Medical Center in Utica. She was born March 26, 1921 in Utica the daughter of the late Jay Earl and Mabel Penner Sickler and was a 1939 graduate of Ilion High School.
Mary Ella was employed as a tester at UNIVAC and later as a clerk with Chicago Pneumatic in Utica retiring several years ago.
Mary Ella was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Ilion, and was a Sunday School teacher and served as the Superintendent for Sunday School for over 60 years retiring in 2003, she also served on various church boards, and was a member of the Violet Rebeccah Lodge in Ilion and past District Deputy of the Rebeccah's, she also served for many years as secretary of Mt. View Memorial Gardens, Little Falls.
Mary Ella is survived by a brother J. Earl Sickler of Norway, NY, a nephew David Sickler and several great and great great nieces and nephews.
Funeral service for Mary Ella will be held on Thursday December 15, 2011 at 2:00 PM at the Whiter-Hendrix Funeral Home Inc. 100 Otsego Street Ilion, with the Rev. Robert Wollaber officiating.
Interment will follow in the Grandview Cemetery Whitesboro.
Friends may call from 12:00 to 2:00 PM on Thursday December 15, 2011 at the funeral home.
Friends are asked to consider memorials to the First United Methodist Church Second Street Ilion, NY 13357 in Mary Ella's memory.
