Ilion - Michael Bush, 66, of Ilion, NY passed away unexpectedly on Friday, November 28, 2025 at Wynn Hospital with his loving wife and daughters by his side.

Born on August 6, 1959, son of Elbertha Jacobus, in Manhattan, NY, Michael graduated from Food & Maritime, which he was very proud of. He was an amazing cook and was employed by many restaurants. Most recently, he was employed with G & K Services in Marcy, for 12 years. Michael was united in marriage with Kandy Boardman and were together for 28 years. He truly loved his wife and devoted his life to her and their three beautiful daughters. He will be remembered for his kindness to others, making sure those around him felt safe and were taken care of. He will also be remembered for his various color coordinated hats and shoes, that everyone knew him by. If you saw Mike any day of the week, he was always sporting a new pair of kicks with a matching hat.

He was an avid sports enthusiast who could always be found with ESPN on. His favorite hobby was basketball, and he played in local leagues for many years. His favorite basketball team was the New York Knicks. He never missed a game. Football was also a favorite. A "cheesehead" as he said, he was a true Green Bay Packers fan. More recently, Mike's favorite hobby became spending time with his four grandchildren. This included sitting in his rocking chair with them, eating ice cream and playing catch. He also spent his time with his dog and sidekick, Tucker.

Survivors include his wife Kandy of Ilion; his daughters, Marissa Bush of Mohawk, Kaitlyn Bush of Mohawk and Destiny Bush of Herkimer. He is also survived by his sister, Angela Harris of Mesquite, TX; two brothers, Mark Wallace of Binghamton, NY and Kevin Wallace of Bergenfield, NJ. Michael will be deeply missed by his four grandchildren, Leiland, Lincoln, Victoria and Tylia Redmond. He is also survived by several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Michael was predeceased by his mother, Elbertha Jacobus; a brother, Bruce Wallace; and a special cousin, Steven Eric Harris.

Arrangements are under the direction of the Whiter-Hendrix Funeral Home, 100 Otsego St. Ilion, NY 13357. To honor Michael's wishes, there will be a private celebration of life at a later date.
